Depending on the resonator you attach the resonant frequencies of the actuator can change. Sometimes, especially for lower frequencies the resonance can be too much and cause the actuator to shake too wildly, we solve this by dampening the actuator.
Use the provided function in the Arduino IDE library to tune specfic frequencies by dampening the actuator.
This method is recommended and very easy. The advantage is being able to target just the problematic frequencies without effecting the others.
Use a permanent magnet to physically tune the actuator
This method is recommended as a second option, and is an invaluable tool to educators and learners who want to experience the resonance changing with the magnet's placement.
Place a soft membrane (paper towel, napkin) at the top to dampen the actuator
This is not generally recommended except for those looking to learn and experiment, as a practical matter the other two methods will usually create better sound.
